Yesterday, I was with a client and we were talking about the Four D’s. These are really helpful when it comes to time management. If you’ve got a task that needs doing, remember the Four D’s
The First D is Do, let’s get on with it, get the task done, get started. No more thinking about it and get on with it and get the task done and out of the way now. If you really cannot do the task now, then use the second D, which is Defer.
Meaning, choose another day, another time when you are going to get the task done and stick to it. You might then decide that it’s not actually for you to do, so choose a capable person.
To use the third D, Delegate the task to that person. Remember to follow up and make sure that it is done the right way.
Now, if the task doesn’t fall to any of those three categories, then use the 4th D. This is delete. Get the task out of the way. Its not for you. Just make the decision that it’s not going to be done at all. If you follow this pattern, there will never be anything that you always intend to do but never get around to doing it.
Message me your thoughts on this, I’d love to hear from you.
