Why business coaching? Why is it important?
These are great questions and to find the answer, just look at any successful athlete or sports team. They always have a great coach.
Tiger Woods summed it up when he said “No matter how good you are, you can’t do this alone”. And just what would you think of a sportsperson or team that decided they did not need a coach and wanted to go it alone?
Staying with golf for a moment, successful golfers understand that “you cant see your own swing” so what do they do? They get a coach to observe it for them and help him improve.
So why would it be any different in business?
For example, imagine a town that had 3 plumbers, all of equal skill, experience and income. You then heard that one of those plumbers had invested in a business coach who was working with them every 2 weeks to help them improve their skills not as a plumber but as a business owner. You heard that the coach helped them plan their growth, develop their vision for the future and set the business up so that it would eventually work without them. Fast forward a year, while all 3 would likely still be of equal skill and experience, which of the 3 would you expect to be earning the most? Which of the 3 would you expect to be the most efficient? And if you needed a plumber, which if the 3 would most likely give you the best customer experience? Would it not be the plumber who had invested in a business coach?
Yes, the other 2 will convince themselves that they are “happy where they are”. But wouldn’t you say that the coached plumber is more likely to be in control of where he is heading?
So why business coaching? Why is it important?
Because without business coaching you will do what you have always done and you will get what you have always got.
With business coaching, you will do what you have always done and you will get what you have always wanted.
Which will you choose?
